Where We Train

As a medium size club we have training sessions on most days of the week. We try and cater for all levels of runners in at least one of our weekly training sessions. This sessions vary from beginners run on Tuesday to the Summer track sessions. The distances that we run depends on the session you attend. In the summer away day run and PUB runs.

Monday 7:25pm (Frogmore)

Our Monday evening run is the 'Club Run'. We run as a group along a known route. Everyone runs at their own pace, but faster runners are asked to loop back to rejoin the group at the back. This allows you to train hard if you want to or just take it steady and stay with the group. These runs are very social as we tend to run as a club, so you meet and chat with other members while running. A few members will retire to the Frogmore bar after the run.
Typical Distance : 5-6 miles

Tuesday 6:25pm ( Sandhurst )

Tuesday's run is an easy club run and is perfect for novices and those coming back from injury or a long lay-off. If you are a complete beginner then please see the beginners page for information about our walking to running inititive.

There is no typical distance for this run - it all depends on the needs of those who turn up.

Typical Distance less is than 5 miles

Wednesday 7:25pm (Frogmore)

Wednesday's run tends to be a longer run which people use as a faster training session. The club naturally divides into groups of runners who run at a similar pace. If you are not sure who to run with ask one of the club who will point you in the right direction. We do try to make sure that no-one runs on their own or is dropped off the back of any group.
Typical Distance : 7-8 miles (Summer), 8-10 miles (Winter)

Thursday 6:25 p.m. (Frogmore)

Like the Monday run it is for any runner capable of doing about five miles, with the group looping as necessary to accommodate different paces. It is particularly aimed at Tuesday night runners who want to move on from the "beginners" group, and those who prefer to run earlier in the evening than the more usual 7:30 start, all are welcome, however.
Typical Distance : 5-6 miles

Friday - There are two Season based Friday activities

07:00 pm (Frogmore): Our Friday evening run can be used for hill/speed reps or whatever you want it to be ( Oct-March only )
Typical Distance : 5-6 miles

7:00 pm Track Sessions ( Bracknell Sports Centre) These are led by Alan Kirby, an experienced coach, who sets the track sessions to your needs. These session are not just for the fast runners. (April-Sept only )
Typical Distance : As far as you like

Sunday 8:55am (The Look Out)

Sunday's run is the long run of the week. The club splits into groups of similar pace and these groups will stay together as much as possible. The aim of this session is to do a long steady run. The distance will vary depending on whether anyone is training for a Marathon . In the build-up to the London Marathon the distance of these runs will increase to about 20 miles. However, we do choose a route with cut-off points so that those runners who wish to go back early can do so. After the run we retire to the Lookout Cafe to enjoy Coffee and a chat
Typical Distance : 8 -15 miles

· Away Day Run : From time to time we have an 'Away Day' run where we meet up somewhere different for a run. The venues and times will be advertised on the website and in the Club Newsletter.

Pub Run : In the summer the Club organise Pub runs . These are similar to the away day run, however we have a pub meal and drinks following the run.. The venues and times will be advertised on the website and in the Club Newsletter.

· Handicap Run : Every second Wednesday of the month we hold our handicap run around Broadmoor. This is a 5.5 mile run over the same route every time, the aim being to better your time each month. The person who improves their handicap time by the greatest margin wins the Handicap Cup for that month. At the end of the year the best times for each runner are used to award 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes for the handicap series.
