Dear Alan,

Our club is opening up the debate on affiliation fees to all our members in light of your responses. I’m letting you know as a courtesy that I am going to post my emails and your replies on our website so that our members can see exactly what was said as in as fair a way as possible and in order that as much transparency as possible is achieved,

I have to say that I’m unconvinced by your arguments and somewhat dismayed that you didn’t directly answer several points, not least of which was my “Tesco” example.

I know that many other non-T&F clubs and their committees are similarly scratching their heads as to what to do and I fear that the lose-lose situation you refer to may yet come about.

However, we are a democratic organisation and the committee will follow the wishes of our members, so I have no idea where this is heading.
