Today I ran the Beachy Head Marathon, my sixth time here and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Jonathan’s not the only nutcase on the roads on Sunday

The views from the South Downs and from the Seven Sisters were glorious.

I was chatting to fellow runners most of the way round – love that this race is so friendly. Sausage rolls, mars bars, hot cross buns and hot cups of tea at the aid station kept the spirits up. This was all despite storm “Babet”‘ which did its best to give me a good soaking and blow me about with some really heavy winds.

The gusts on the Seven Sisters and SDW were something else. It was also very muddy and slippy. fortunately I was dressed for the elements so didn’t mind, a bit of carnage about me though and saw one poor chap slip into the mud twice. A memorable day out and definitely be back next year – it’s my favourite race for sure.
