The final Thames Valley XC event will be hosted by Bracknell Forest Runners next weekend in Lightwater.
The event details have been posted by our XC Captain Jon Green and emailed out to members as well. The invitation to run goes out to everyone – any member who can run 5 miles off-road are welcome to join us and if you like cake, there is an abundance of it at the end of the race, and EVERY runner counts, no matter where you are in the field.
105 members of Sandhurst Joggers took part in a parkrun last weekend! Here is a run down of how our local events went and some tourism details too…
Sandhurst Memorial – being our newest and most local parkrun, 28 members made their way to Sandhurst Memorial Park for it’s 3rd event.
Nik Light secured a new PB of 20:08 being our first member to finish and was also 1st in his age category.
Our first lady home was Heidi Zymela in 24:21 which was also a PB,so well done Heidi!
No milestone runs occurred today but being a new event, plenty of PBs to celebrate:
Sacha Kendall-Woods – 25:11, Jane Crawford – 26:08, Helen Davey – 26:59, Fiona Marshall – 28:02, Harvey Young – 29:11 & Blanche Barnes – 30:42.

California Country Park – We had 5 SJ’s at California this weekend led in with a new PB of 23:42 by Jon Green – well done Jon! Claire McCubbin was our first female in 31:48 at her first run here.

Tourism and remote home runs
Christmas Swapshop
A run, back to the pub and swap out some presents!

Winter Cross Ultra
Jonathan Taylor ventured down to Meon for this 31 mile event which had a 8 hour 30 minute cut-off time. Liking to get full value for his race entry fee Jonathan crossed the line with 3 minutes to spare. His running time was 7 hours 35 so guessing he was just enjoying the puddles! Also if you love race bling then……

Phoenix Firebird Series
Nigel Evans who enjoys a marathon every once in a while completed the 4th of the Firebird Series earning an extra medal in the process.

A pretty good job he got that medal at the end as running with it would have been tricky. Nice to see that after such a great achievement Nigel’s first thought was to offer thanks to his wife Liz for her “limitless support and encouragement” – a true gent!

Brutal Longmoor
An 8km course taking you into the sand dunes, with an abundance of hill climbs later. Water features that will help to cool the runners off before another climb, where you will twist and turn before heading back to the arena for the finish !
Angela and Mark Fokker looked like they had a great time down there doing this!

Gutbuster
The Gut Buster is a legendary 10km & 10 mile trail run in the Berkshire countryside, taking place between Christmas & New Year each year. So much is here, the water crossings, Roman Walls, fields, footpaths, and what is sometimes the hardest last 400m in British Athletics [farmer/ crop rotation dependent].
Seven hardy members took part – times are below but lets face it, you do this for the fun of running not times. Well done to you all!
Max Woods 1:19:49
Helen Antram 1:23:48
Lou Gubbb 1:24:46
Charles St.Aubyn 1:29:08
Charlotte St.Aubyn 1:30:44
Sacha Kendall-Woods 1:35:39

Not so many club runs this week with the New Year celebrations going on…
Sunday: As the run down started with, the final Thames Valley Cross Country @ Bracknell Forest Runners in Lightwater!
On New Years Day there are lots of parkruns that have staggered start times so the opportunity to do a double parkrun is available.
