Another busy week of activities for the club’s runners.
Recent races
Sandhurst Joggers out and about strutting their stuff. A busy weekend indeed. We can’t guarantee capturing every participant in every event: unless we have advance notice or there’s been lots of chatter regarding a national event, we depend on the information that can be gleaned from the Strava group for the longest run for members, but typically only for 16k+ activities; there are too many general runs under that distance to justify the amount of time it would take to capture every detail. There are also a good number of private profiles. We do our best but do rely on submissions from participants for the fuller picture.
Race to the Stones:
Well done to Andy Yates for taking part in this challenging ultramarathon on 9 July.
Yateley 10k – Race 2:
Well done to everyone completing the second race in the series. Medals for Phil Beard, Gary Dowling, Nigel Bassett, Vinnett Taylor, Roy Bentley, Emma Owen, Paul Biggs and Julian Rawcliffe.

And a special thank you as always to the volunteer co-ordinators: Sally Kent and Mo Wilcox.

Thanks to Monica for the photos.
Please consider volunteering for the course setup and marshalling at the third race if you’re not able to run. There was a definite shortage of hands for loading the van in the morning for the 2nd race.
Club special events
In addition to the regular club runs, we’re now getting into the summer season.
Yateley 10k Series:
Third race coming up on 2 August. For those not running there are still plenty of volunteering opportunities available.
Beginners try-a-tri:
July 22nd 2pm at Yateley School. 200m swim, 10k bike and 3.2k run. £5 on the day.
Social media
We’re trying to include a bit more attention on some of our social; feeds:
- Twitter – club run notices andf other updates
- Instagram – early days for this; need some ats, tags and photos
- Facebook – The private Facebook group as the source of club updates
Club-funded events
Sandhurst Joggers funds teams entering a number of local relay events:
- Runnymede Relay (Windsor Great Park) on 15 July 2023 – we have entered two 6-runner teams so far (one reserve).
- Stragglers River Relay (Virginia Water to Kingston-upon-Thames) at 0900 on 3 September 2023.
- Clarendon Relay (Salisbury to Winchester) on 1 October 2023.
There is no expectation of performance level or times, just a willingness to commit their time and be able to complete the distance (typically max. 10k). The Clarendon run is the most challenging so some experience of trails and hilly terrain would be advised.
These events typically require at least one female entrant per team.
Express your interest in any of the relays through the Events page in the Facebook group.
Other local events
There are plenty of other events are available for individual entry (but not funded by the club).
Some examples include:
- Cliveden Classic on 17 JUne 2023.
- Basingstoke half marathon – 1 October 2023
- Aldershot & Farnham District six-pack challenge – choose when, where and how you complete each event.
Please send any suggestions for recommended team or individual events to the events mailbox or Facebook group page.

Events of the week
Events page on Facebook page
For the different events that are going on for Sandhurst Joggers and who is attending, I encourage you to look at and add to the ‘events’ page on the private Facebook group. On the mobile Facebook page, you need to press on the 3 lines and then press the ‘events page’, images are below:

Remember that the club funds many team events particularly summer relays such as the Runymede Relay (in Windsor Great Park), Stragglers River Relay (along the Thames from Boveney to Kingston) and the cross-country Clarendon Relay between Salisbury and Winchester. These events are team efforts for all ages and abilities and we really appreciate as members as possible getting involved.
Club Events for the week ahead…

Alongside the Tuesday group runs is intervals and the venue varies but most weeks we meet at the Tythings, Yateley or at the Morgan Rec (where the handicap is), Crowthorne. The session can support with helping you get faster, building up endurance with the session being for all abilities and no-one is left behind. There are typically from 4 to 8 athletes taking part.

Lots of members will be enjoying their weekly Parkrun fix at 9am on Saturday morning, if you’re thinking of going somewhere new then post on the Facebook page as there may be other members planning on running at the same place as you! Wherever you are parkrunning – Don’t forget your barcode! There can often be more than 50 Sandhurst Joggers taking in a Parkrun up and down the country.
