On Sunday 1st September, Amber, Claire S, Steve, Yan and myself formed the only club team at the annual Stragglers River Relay.

It started in Boveney near Eton where Amber got us going at 8.45am. She handed over to Claire who navigated broken bridges and barriers for her leg through Staines!

Steve took leg 3 heading to Shepperton where he handed the baton to Yan. It was warming up as he continued along the Thames to Hurst Park near Hampton court.

I took on the final leg down to Kingston and was cheered to the finish by the waiting teams from many different clubs.

We finished a decent 42nd in 3hours 49minutes for the total distance of 26.7 miles.

It was hot but the organisers were great, providing water at most rest stops. As much as we were asked to check our route beforehand, there were some Marshalls along the way.

The five of us really enjoyed it, some even ran the route in reverse back to their cars and to get a nice long run completed!

We did see multiple teams from other clubs and it would be great to muster a few more from SJ next year!
